About this work
Desert Balance, Holding continues Stone Sunday's studio language of the hush of gallery light across lime-washed planes. The work balances structure with drift, using cast plaster, lime wash, and salvaged steel to hold onto process, pressure, and small changes in tone.

About the artist
Stone Sunday
Marfa, TX
Simone Dupree makes small-scale sculptures that feel architectural without becoming monumental. Under the name Stone Sunday, Dupree combines cast forms and salvaged steel to create objects that sit somewhere between domestic artifact and desert monument.
Artist statement
I want sculpture to feel slow. The forms I build are simple enough to read quickly, but the relationships between weight, shadow, and surface are meant to unfold over time.
