About this work
Built in acrylic and aerosol on panel, Neon Wall No. 8 extends Lark Mason's interest in signage logic translated into mood. The surface is deliberately layered, allowing shifts in color and edge to stay visible rather than resolving into a polished finish.
About the artist
Lark Mason
El Paso, TX
Nico Ortega's contemporary paintings draw from border light, painted signage, and the color logic of desert nights. As Lark Mason, Ortega favors restrained compositions with one or two disruptive gestures that keep each work from settling too neatly.
Artist statement
I am interested in the moment a clean structure starts to loosen. A painting becomes real for me when order and accident can both still be seen.
