About this work
Transit Glow I continues Sol Vale's studio language of heat shimmer across stucco. The work balances structure with drift, using acrylic, pastel, and graphite on canvas to hold onto process, pressure, and small changes in tone.
About the artist
Sol Vale
Austin, TX
Working under the moniker Sol Vale, Elena Marquez paints heat, motion, and memory into loose architectural fields. She grew up between Brownsville and Austin, and her studio practice borrows as much from roadside signage and stucco walls as it does from formal abstraction.
Artist statement
I make paintings that hold onto the afterimage of a place instead of describing it literally. Each surface starts with a remembered temperature, a scrap of color, or a fragment of street geometry, and I keep layering until the painting feels like weather you can stand inside.
